Day-by-Day Experience
Day 1 – Arrival in Paro | Journey to Thimphu
Arrive in Paro and be welcomed into Bhutan before driving through lush river valleys to Thimphu, the capital city. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, where locals gather daily for prayer and reflection, offering a gentle initiation into Bhutan’s spiritual rhythm.
Day 2 – Thimphu Tshechu Festival at Tashichho Dzong
Attend one of Bhutan’s most sacred annual festivals. Witness masked Cham dances honoring Guru Rinpoche, performed within the fortress-monastery that houses Bhutan’s royal government. A rare opportunity to experience living tradition, devotion, and celebration.
Day 3 – Thimphu Cultural Immersion
Visit the monumental Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley, explore Bhutan’s National Museum, enjoy local cuisine, and browse the Crafts Bazaar for traditional textiles and sacred art.
Day 4 – Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
Cross the breathtaking Dochula Pass at 3,100 meters, lined with 108 memorial chortens and panoramic Himalayan views. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famed fertility temple, before arriving in the serene river valley of Punakha.
Day 5 – Punakha Valley Exploration
Explore the majestic Punakha Dzong, dramatically situated between two rivers, then cross one of Bhutan’s longest suspension bridges. Optional village walks offer intimate glimpses into rural Bhutanese life.
Day 6 – Punakha to Trongsa
Travel through forested mountains and valleys, stopping at the Chendebji Chorten before arriving in historic Trongsa. Visit the commanding Trongsa Dzong, once the seat of royal power.
Day 7 – Trongsa to Bumthang
Journey to Bumthang, considered the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Walk through peaceful villages, visit local farms, and settle into the quiet rhythm of this sacred valley.
Day 8 – Bumthang Chhoekhor Valley
Explore ancient temples and monasteries including Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Tamshing Monastery, each deeply connected to Guru Rinpoche and Bhutan’s spiritual lineage.
Day 9 – Tang Valley & Burning Lake
Venture into the remote Tang Valley, visiting Ugyen Choling Palace and the sacred Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), a site of myth, miracle, and deep reverence.
Day 10 – Bumthang to Phobjikha Valley (Gangtey)
Arrive in the wide, glacial Phobjikha Valley, winter home of the black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery and experience the profound stillness of this open highland landscape.
Day 11 – Phobjikha Valley Nature Day
Walk the Phobjikha Nature Trail, visit the Black-Necked Crane Center, and spend the day immersed in one of Bhutan’s most tranquil ecosystems.
Day 12 – Gangtey to Paro
Return to Paro through winding mountain roads and mist-covered forests, integrating the journey as the circle begins to close.
Day 13 – Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliffside above the Paro Valley. One of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas and a true initiatory moment of the journey.
Day 14 – Paro Cultural Sites & Completion
Visit Paro Dzong, the National Museum, and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples. A final day for reflection, gratitude, and completion before departure.
